Book Review: Once Upon a Time in the North by Philip Pullman

I love Philip Pullman. His Dark Materials changed my teenagerhood; those were some of the best books I ever read, growing up.

I’m not sure what happened with this book. I DNF’d at 42/95 pages because nothing was happening. Lee Scoresby, an aeruonaut, was on the hunt for a job. He was dull and misogynistic. The story progressed with him meeting people, drinking, and meeting more people. There was no action, no conflict, no tension, no purpose to the story.

I devoured His Dark Materials. This book is so dull I could cry.

Verdict: 0 stars.
