This post is about one of the villains in my fantasy novel The Windcaster, which is free to read on Wattpad. As with all “Meet My Character” blog posts, this contains **SPOILERS**.
Dark Tidings is an urban fantasy adventure that blended the thrill and unlimited potential of an ancient magical world with the logic of modern day technology and takes you on a chase filled with excitement and humour as the main characters are tracked by those who seek the legendary spell in their hands.
What happens when ancient magic collides with the internet? One thing is certain, modern life will never be the same again.
A thousand years ago, a young thief, Tung, and a disgraced wizard, Madrick, are thrust together in an executioner’s dungeon. In the darkness, Madrick reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell. The great spell helps them escape their prison cell… and eventually their century.
Catapulted into the present day, their lives collide with Michael, a computer hacker who plans to destroy the world’s largest bank. But sinister people are tracking their every move and they will stop at nothing to steal their spell.”

I will never have reached where I am today without my readers. From those who avidly chase chapter after chapter, speculate to no ends, suggest pointers for improvement or ways to make my writing more dramatic; to enthusiastic, silently supportive ones who are the first to read and leave a vote and never complain when I’m late updating; to the silent readers who add me to their reading lists and follow me from project to project. They are my life line and my motivation. I would never churn out as many words and works as I do now if not for them.
Which is why I wish to do my bit to thank them. There isn’t much I can do — I’m not a published writer, I don’t have many connections, I can’t make graphics to save my life, but I do bake great cakes. Which is why I wish to promote my followers or books they like.
Starting from today (well, last week) for the foreseeable future, any followers of mine are welcome to drop me a PM or post on my wall their works or works they have read that deserve more reads, and I will give it a shout-out to my 6k+ followers in hopes they will reach the attention they deserve.
If I get my butt organised, I’ll also post on my Facebook wall and do a blog post for them, too, depending on real-life workload.

Gertrude of Rebelslavia is a TeenFic Fantasy that follows the story of the titular character who’s fed up with her life and got shipped by her parents to boarding school. Think Harry Potter mixed with fairy tales with romance and a troubled heritage.
Gertrude hates everybody and everything.
She hates her family, she hates her teachers and she hates all the phonies that go to the hell-hole that is school, with her.
Fed up with her behavior, her parents ship her off to a boarding school for troubled teenagers.
Once there, she is badgered by a pair of superstitious, fanatical twins who are on the hunt for the Book of Thoth which they believe is hidden on school grounds. However, if she agrees to help the crazy twins, they might stumble across more than just the Book of Thoth.
And in the process, Gertrude might learn more about her heritage and identity – a heritage that might pale in comparison to the fairytales of Grimm.

I hadn’t planned on doing this. Rune Mage for NaNoWriMo2016 was tough as it is because of work, but my friend Stef was like “Do it! Do it!” so I joined her cabin. I’ve pledged to do 25k, which is just under double my usual amount (~1.8k twice a week, about 14k a month).
Making progress so far, I think! Certainly allowing me to move ahead with the story and gives me time to have ‘spare’ chapters for when I’m too busy to write.
Word count for the novel so far is 121k and I haven’t reached the climax yet. This might be a book that’s a tad too long. Oops.
Are you looking for a graphic designer for your self-published book or for non-commercial use? Are you looking for someone efficient and comes highly recommended? Or do you just want to look at pretty stuff?
Check out Stefanie Saw (seventhstar), a freelance graphics designer based in Malaysia with incredible talent. She does non-commercial work on the side and her covers are amazing. She’s done a few non-commercial ones for me — check out below.
You can check out more of her portfolio on her website, Facebook, and Wattpad collection. She’s done some mind-blowing covers for published writers, too, including The Withered Land series by Joseph Armstead and The Eternal Flame series by L. Penelope.
Baking on Halloween turns into a murdering spree. Beauty and the Beast turns into a butcher fest. Children can’t even play a game without being butchered left, right, and centre. A high school choir becames Battle Royale.
